Your Brookvale and Parramatta Dentist and The Child Dental Benefits Schedule
The merits of proper dental care don’t stop at the mere physical level. Properly cared for, a child’s teeth can provide far more than just a method of staying nourished. They can aid in a child’s confidence, and their ability to build relationships with their peers and their environment. Repeatedly, it has been shown that the knock-on effects of good teeth extend themselves in to many facets of daily life, as interpersonal skill development is intrinsically tied to self-image.
It is for reasons such as these that Australia introduced the Child’s Dental Benefits Schedule, or CDBS. A federal initiative, this outreach method was postulated as a method of encouraging oral health among our young people, regardless of their circumstances. It can help to encourage visits to your dentist for cleaning and check-ups, and as an extension, a commitment to a child’s long-term oral health.
The CDBS will cover the cost of a dental visit for procedures including:
- Dental checkups and cleanings
- Fissure sealants and fillings
- X-rays
- Extractions
- Root canals
It is made available over a two-year period for those between the ages of two to seventeen. Children are eligible if they receive a Family Tax Benefit or another relevant Australain government payment. Orthodontic or cosmetic surgeries are not covered, nor are any procedures undertaken in hospital.
Here at No Gaps, we provide Parramatta, Brookvale, and a host of other suburbs with a dentist that is ready to provide eligible patients with the care they need to enjoy long-term oral health, and a lifelong love of smiles.
